Timo Werner Takes Bundesliga by Storm With Impressive Season
He finished within 10 goals of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Robert Lewandowski, and Anthony Modeste, who are all elite players in their own right.
One of the biggest accomplishments Werner produced in the 2016-17 season was becoming only the fifth player under the age of 22 to score more than 19 goals in a season. He joins elite company in doing so, and is a testament to his ability moving forward in his career.

He played a key role in helping Leipzig hold off Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim in the battle for second place. In his last seven appearances, he scored seven goals, four of which were part of two braces scored against Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich.
Leipzig scored 66 goals this season as a unit, as Werner contributed almost one-third of their goals with his 21. The effect he had on the club was immense as he worked well with the likes of Emil Forsberg, Naby Keita, and Yussuf Poulson. If Leipzig keep this unit intact, then expect to see another impressive season from their attack.
This perhaps wasn’t the season many had foreseen for the young striker, but it was a pleasant surprise for fans across Germany. Werner is a German international and got his first start against England in a friendly in March. With his recent performances in the Bundesliga, the Leipzig star is certainly going to be getting more attention when it comes to international selections.
As the summer approaches, it will be interesting to see where the young star ends up with his international duty. He could join the U-21 side for the European Championship or play with the senior level team at the Confederations Cup.
This has truly been a fantastic season for Timo Werner, and football fans are excited to see where his career and goal-scoring ability take him down the road.
