Sean Dyche is preparing offers as Burnley target West Brom trio Craig Dawson, Matt Phillips and Jay Rodriguez. They are all attracting the interest of Dyche as he looks to bolster his side in preparation for a European campaign.

West Bromwich Albion and Burnley both came into this season with expectations of a mid-table finish. However, football very rarely sticks to its script, and these two teams have strayed from the path of expectation in opposite directions.

Sean Dyche’s Burnley have had a remarkable season and in all likelihood, will be playing Europa League football next season.

The Baggies on the other hand, are enduring a hellish Premier League campaign. On the brink of relegation that is sure to be confirmed in the coming weeks. Albion have already begun preparations for next season in the second tier and are expecting a flurry of interest from Premier League clubs. Sean Dyche is wasting no time picking the bones of West Brom’s beleaguered side as he eyes his summer targets.

Dyche targets West Brom Trio

Craig Dawson

Sean Dyche has been a fan of Craig Dawson for a while, enquiring about the defender in the summer of last year. Only to be knocked back by then manager of West Brom, Tony Pulis. Dawson is a versatile defender, a natural centre back but fits in seamlessly at right back when required.

Dawson signed for the Baggies in 2010 and has made over 150 appearances for the club with two years remaining on his current contract. Burnley are prepared to pay £10million for the services of the defender but will face resistance. Albion are keen to keep hold of Dawson with fellow defender Jonny Evans heading for the Hawthorns exit.

Matt Phillips

The Scottish winger signed for West Brom in 2016 and after an impressive debut season has struggled to match it this time around. Inconsistent and lacking confidence under Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew this season. Phillips has seemingly found his mojo again under current stand in boss Darren Moore.

Phillips has made 61 appearances in his time at West Brom, scoring seven goals and has two years remaining on his current contract.

Jay Rodriguez

West Brom’s top scorer this season was subject of interest from Burnley last summer before Albion signed him from Southampton. As a boyhood Burnley fan, the lure of European football with the Clarets would be an attractive proposition for Rodriguez who scored 41 goals in his previous spell at Turf Moor.

Rodriguez still has three years on his current contract which has the striker earning £65,000-a-week. A figure that Burnley are unwilling to match.

If however, the Baggies are facing relegation, the price tag may well be a subject that rapidly goes back into discussion.
