Harry Kane has signed a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur. The English captain is contracted to the club until 2024. Kane is considered one of the top strikers in world football, and retaining his services comes as a massive boost to the club as they enter into a new era with a move to their new stadium scheduled to happen in the next season.
The rise of Harry Kane
Harry Kane is a boyhood Tottenham fan and academy graduate. Since breaking into the Tottenham side in the 2014-2015 season, the striker has scored over 20 Premier League goals on four occasions and has recorded over 25 league goals in each of the last three seasons. Kane has won the Premier League golden boot twice and was unlucky not to win a third last season, becoming the first Premier League player to record 30 goals in a season and not win the award.
Many doubted Kane would make it at the top level. Following a series of unspectacular loan spells, many wrote him off. However, after four years playing regular first team football, Kane has gone from having joke memes of him winning Ballon D’ors and a comedic “get Kane on the plane” Twitter campaign for the last world cup, to captaining the English national team in the 2018 World Cup and rejecting interest from the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid to sign a new deal at Tottenham.

Harry Kane’s new contract will prove to be Tottenham’s best bit of business this summer without a doubt. The striker is simply irreplaceable. The fact he has genuine affection for the club and its supporters is the equivalent of winning the lottery for Tottenham. That being said, one of the best players on the planet needs to win trophies and he has not been doing so at Tottenham. The club needs to reward Kane’s loyalty with investments, that will surround Kane with players capable of matching his targets and winning the trophies that he could have won elsewhere.
