French champions Paris Saint-Germain have completed the singing of Gianluigi Buffon. The 40-year-old Italian legend will join on a free transfer from Juventus. Buffon leaves the Turin side after 17 years and 11 Scudetto’s as well as one Serie B title. Buffon is one of the biggest legends in Italian and world football and the move to France brings an end to his 23-year spell in Serie A which has consisted of spells with Parma and Juventus.

Buffon Will Add Experience
The 2006 World Cup winner will bring experience to the PSG side. They are the dominant side in France at the moment, winning five of the past six Ligue 1 titles.
However, they have not performed so well in the Champions League. The Parisian side have not gotten past the quarter-final stage of the competition since Oryx Qatar Sports Investments took them over in 2011.
The group has invested heavily in the side. Although Buffon has never won the Champions League, the Italian has a lot of experience in the competition having played in three different finals for Juventus. This experience should aid his new side in their quest for a Champions League title.
Juventus are linked with highly rated youngster Gianluigi Donnaruma. The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the hottest teenage prospects in world football. Should rivals AC Millan sanction the deal, it will likely be for a world-record fee for a goalkeeper. Donnaruma has been tipped to be Buffon’s replacement in the Italian national side. He has so far made six appearances for his country.
If Juventus are to spend so much on a goalkeeper it will almost certainly be with the intention of making him their number one. Juventus bought goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny from Arsenal in 2017. It is likely the Polish international believed he would eventually be Buffon’s replacement, so any deal to sign a top-class 19-year-old will possibly see Szczęsny looking to leave Turin and sparking a transfer chase.
