Highly rated Brazillian attacker Malcom has signed for Barcelona. The winger has been the subject of intense speculation for around a year, with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus have all expressed an interest in him. However, Bordeaux have reached an agreement with Barcelona for fee rumoured to be in excess of £40 million. Bordeaux had originally agreed on a deal with Roma for the Brazillian’s signature, however, Barcelona outbid the Italian’s at the last minute. Malcom’s move was so close to completion that Bordeaux had announced that the winger was to have a medical in Rome and fans waited outside the airport to meet him.

Malcom Completes Move to Barcelona

Malcom recorded 12 goals and seven assists in Ligue 1 last season. At only 21 years of age, he is rated as a high prospect. It is natural that he chose to sign for a Champions League side. For Barcelona to secure his signature from Roma may prove to be a nice coup for the La Liga club.

Malcom Hopes to Break Into Brazil Side

It is likely that Malcom joined Barcelona due to the prestige of the club. Despite playing international football at youth level, the winger is yet to represent his nation, Brazil, at senior international level. Malco may view the Spanish giants as the ideal platform to showcase his talents.

After an underwhelming showing at the recent World Cup by Brazil, Malcom may have been pushed to join an elite club. Viewing now as an excellent opportunity to break into the national side.

The winger has already accumulated over 160 club appearances for both Bordeaux and Brazillian side Corinthians. Malcom has so far won one Brazillian league title as well as finishing as runner-up with Brazil at the U20 World Cup.

Barcelona Showing Intent

Malcom is both a creator and a finisher. If the Brazillian can replicate his Ligue 1 form in La Liga then Barcelonawill have a real star on their hands. With the signing of Malcom, Barclona appears to be showing intent. The club has been a nearly side for quite a while now in the Champions League. The signing of Malcom may make them a more threatening force in Europe and he will also offer the Catalans more attacking versatility.
