Rubin Kazan are a well-known club in Russia and Europe. They have won a total of five major Russian trophies and are growing continentally. Even though this club have a good reputation, they are facing troubles.
Rubin Kazan Banned From European Competition
European football will not be coming to Kazan. They have broken an agreement made with UEFA back in 2014. The agreement took place after the club failed to respect FFP rules. An investigation has been carried out and ruled Rubin Kazan guilty. UEFA have released their official statement about the matter.
“The adjudicatory chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) has taken a decision in the case of the club Rubin Kazan that had been referred to it by the CFCB chief investigator, due to breach of the Settlement Agreement.
“The club is excluded from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which it would otherwise qualify in the next two seasons.”
It has been nine years since the club last won the league title. This drought is frustrating them and they are eager to make it back up. This exclusion is a big blow for them. They are in fifth place, two points away from second. Even if they finish high in the table, they will not be rewarded with European football.
The motivation of the players could go down, which causes results to fall with them. The club poorly managed their finances and have paid for it. This will sink the club deeper in their six-year trophy drought.
The Russian powerhouses will try their best to make it back up. They need the European push badly. Although this is a major setback, there could be positives.
Now, they can concentrate more on league success. They could try to bring back the Russian league title for the first time in nearly a decade. Without the burden of Europe, they could concentrate on their national league.
Kazan will try to find an extra push to help them back up. It might take a few years to make it back to the top, but it will be worth it. Now the club is in a deep situation and needs to try to get out of it.
