The signing of Keita Balde during the summer excited most Inter fans. The Senegalese man was brought in on a loan with a €34 million option to buy. High expectations were set for the 23-year-old who, until now, hasn’t lived up to the excitement. As the season progresses, his time at the club decreases. This has gotten to the point that a return to Monaco is a possible idea if he does not perform.

Balde Disappointment at Inter

Balde started his career in the Barcelona youth team. After impressing, he caught the eye of Lazio, who bought the player for only €300,000. His peak years were in Rome, spending four years in the capital and scoring 31 while assisting 27 in 137 appearances. Many clubs were in for his signature, including Inter’s rivals AC Milan.

The youngster decided to move to Monaco, who was at the time champions of France. After scoring eight and assisting 11 in one season at the club, the decision was made to send him to Inter. The former Barcelona man was happy to move back to Italy, though he couldn’t find the talent he had in Lazio.

Until now, his time in the city of Milan hasn’t been so bad, though it could have been better. The Nerazzurri are trying to end Juventus’ dominance of the Serie A. Places at the club are limited and only the best are needed to achieve this goal. There are multiple players on the shortlist and Balde needs to fight to stay in the squad as many names have been identified to replace him.

According to Tutto Sport, Inter are not willing to pay €34 million to keep him at the club. So far this season, Balde has only started three games, assisting once. His lack of playing time is due to the stars in the squad, not leaving any space for the winger.

The former Lazio man isn’t willing to return to Monaco, fighting for a stay. Performances need to improve from the Senegal international, or else he will be sent back to his parent club who are second last place, in the relegation zone.
