Latest on Jack Clarke, Smith Rowe, Morris and Maja
Leeds Star Attracting Interest
Leeds United’s in-form youngster, Jack Clarke, is attracting interest from the Premier League. A number of clubs are reportedly monitoring the player who has lit up the Championship this season. The 18-year-old winger has taken the division by storm, playing a big part in United’s rise to first place.
Clarke’s form has even seen England manager Gareth Southgate take in a game to watch him. The winger has yet to feature for any England side; however, this could change in the near future. The Leeds academy product is gaining admirers on a daily basis, including Pep Guardiola, among others. Interested clubs may have to wait, as Clarke has stated his intent to stay at Elland Road.
West Brom Chasing Arsenal Midfielder
Having lost Harvey Barnes recently after Leicester recalled him from his loan spell, West Brom are targeting another Premier League youngster. Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe is reportedly on manager Darren Moore’s wish list. 18-year-old Smith Rowe is yet to play in the league for Arsenal but has featured in the Europa League.
The youngster reportedly had the opportunity to join Barcelona but turned the offer down to stay with the Gunners. Promotion-chasing Albion are hoping to arrange a loan deal for the midfielder until the end of the season.
Portsmouth to Sign Morris?
League One leaders Portsmouth are on verge of signing Bryn Morris from Shrewsbury. The midfielder looked set to join Luton last week but, with Luton losing manager Nathan Jones to Stoke, Pompey have stepped in. They hope the deal will be complete by Monday.
The 22-year-old is not part of Shrewsbury’s plans and has spent the first part of the season on loan at Wycombe. He scored three goals in 21 games, including one against a Portsmouth.
Josh Maja Latest
The Josh Maja saga at Sunderland is continuing to gather pace. The forward has rejected a new contract worth seven times his current salary. He was also left out of the recent game against Luton, although manager Jack Ross advised this was due to illness. This did not stop many from speculating on his position at the club.
A number of Premier League and Championship clubs are reportedly interested, as are Scottish champions Celtic. However, it has emerged that there is now interest from the Bundesliga. Maja’s agent has strong ties in Germany. The forward is signed to the same agency as Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson of Arsenal, who is currently on loan at Hoffenheim.
