Giovani Lo Celso Career So Far

The 23-year-old began his career at Argentinian club Rosario Central, where he was a product of the academy. He made just 27 appearances, before joining French side PSG in the summer of 2016 for £8.5 million. However, part of the deal was that he would return to Rosario until December 2016.

Giovani Lo Celso only spent one full season with the French giants. During the 2017-18 campaign, he made 33 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring just four goals. However, he won the treble with PSG in the 2017-18 campaign and scored in the final of the Coupe de France.

Subsequently, he was loaned to Spanish side Real Betis for the 2018-19 campaign. After a successful campaign – in which he 16 goals and registered six assists – Betis triggered their option to buy the Argentinian.

Moreover, Lo Celso also has ten caps for his Argentina. He was named in the Argentinian squad for 2018 World Cup. However, he failed to make a single appearance as they were knocked out in the round of 16 by eventual champions France.

What This Means For The Future

Giovani Lo Celso’s confidence is likely to be sky-high following a successful season in La Liga.

However, he could struggle to adapt to his new league following his £55 million move. There will be pressure on him to succeed off the back of the high price tag move. Furthermore, there will be pressure on him to work his way into the first team, with Tanguey Ndombele and Harry Winks also playing in a similar position.

Arguably though, Giovani Lo Celso has is best years ahead of him at just 23-years old. As a result, it could prove to be a shrewd piece of business by Tottenham.
