Worrying Performances

Gary Bowyer has reiterated the task of promotion is harder than in recent years as the quality of League Two improves. The Bantams boss will be hopeful of a positive reaction as the previous game ended in defeat. The team’s performance against Crawley Town has been heavily criticised meaning Bradford will need to impress.

Luke McGee has joined Bradford on loan. The 24-year-old currently plays for Portsmouth but is looking for more game time. With Richard O’Donnell out injured, McGee has jumped at the chance to join Bradford. McGee will be looking to start this weekend after impressing Gary Bowyer with his attitude. Eoin Doyle will be looking for his first goal since moving back to Bradford from Swindon this month. However, the Bantams are worryingly goal-shy in their current form, averaging around three shots on target per game.

Jamie Devitt and Clayton Donaldson are back in training. Hope Akpan, Harry Pritchard, and Kelvin Mellor all remain doubtful.

Paul Hurst Getting Rid of the Deadwood

Paul Hurst will continue to remove players he deems surplus to requirements. The Irons’ boss is feeling the pressure as results continue to go against Scunthorpe. However, he will be eyeing up an out of form Bradford. Former Bantam Jamie Proctor could feature due to Lee Novak‘s three-match suspension. There are a number of former players in the Scunthorpe squad. Rory McCardle, Alex Gilliead, Proctor, and Matty Lund could all feature.

Regan Slater and Yann Songo’o are both missing due to injuries.

Bradford City the Slight Favourites

The last meeting between the teams ended in a one-all draw as ten-man Scunthorpe held on. City players and Bowyer can have no excuses this weekend with a strong line-up available. The Bantams will also benefit from a full week of preparation. Scunthorpe are likely to make changes to their line-up due to suspensions, giving players like Jamie Proctor a chance to impress. A draw is a likely result, however, both teams are in desperate need of all three points.
