Hertha Berlin Sign Striker Krzysztof Piatek From AC Milan
Hertha Berlin announced via their website they had signed the striker. Piatek arrives for an undisclosed fee, signing a long-term contract with the German capital club.
The deal is seen as a real coup for the Bundesliga club, with several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, competing for the dangerous striker’s signature. Piatek only joined AC Milan in January last year, but the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has limited the striker’s game time.
He has always been a prolific figure wherever he has played. His career began in Poland, playing for Lechia Dzierzoniow, Zaglebie Lubin and KS Cracovia. Piatek made over 100 appearances for clubs in his home nation, scoring 50 goals.
His prolific form earned him a move to Genoa in June 2018. He excelled with the Serie A side, scoring 19 goals in 21 games. That form earned him a move to AC Milan. However, his form and confidence has dipped in Milan. The Polish striker still has a decent record, scoring 16 in 41 games for Milan.
The striker is ready to take the Bundesliga by storm and fire Hertha Berlin to safety in the Bundesliga. He joins a Hertha side sat in the bottom half of the Bundesliga, hovering above the relegation zone.
The Polish striker will make his debut this weekend when Hertha Berlin face Schalke on Friday night.
What Was Said
Speaking to the Hertha Berlin website about his move, Piatek said: “I’m so happy that this transfer got done.
“The way this club is going really convinced me that this was the right move for me and I’m so excited to play with my new teammates. I want to contribute to this development with plenty of great performances and hopefully lots of goals.”
