After convincing domination in the Edinburgh derby on Tuesday, Heart of Midlothian look set to escape to safety. An away win at Hibernian saw them collect three valuable points – something they have struggled to obtain this season.

Hearts’ Improved Form

Following a big feat in the cup, knocking European high flyers Rangers out, Hearts have looked sharper ahead of their next matches.

The visitors from Tynecastle had a night to remember after dominating their city rivals Hibernian on home turf. They edged to a comfortable 3-1 win thanks to goals from Sean Clare, Oliver Bozanic and Conor Washington and the travelling support were not disappointed with the show put on by their men that night. Hibs were given little opportunity to be able to do anything in the midst of the battering given from the Gorgie side.

Still in Relegation Zone

Hearts currently sit 11th in the table, in the relegation zone, having gained points after that night’s win and only three points separate them and Paisley outfit St. Mirren. The Tynecastle side have a long road ahead, next facing Motherwell, who are currently sat third in the league table, before another tough away fixture to Livingston. Aberdeen await them on April 3, giving Hearts the next few games to look forward to.

Hibernian are sitting sixth, thanks to some mixed recent form. Their chase for European qualification has been hindered so far, although a few wins on the bounce would see them leapfrog high flyers Livingston and Aberdeen, both who are in front.

The Hibees will be desperate to make changes to their team’s tactics and mentality following that disastrous night as they look onto Hampden Park for the long-awaited semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
