Serie A outfit Roma are looking for new prolific attacking option, and a certain target has been confirmed to be ex-Chelsea striker Diego Costa. The Spanish maverick has struggled to replicate his former Chelsea self at Atletico Madrid.

Roma Chasing Diego Costa

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Diego Costa’s power, talent and technique have made him a valuable and prolific target for a few teams. One of which is Roma. The Italian outfit hopes he will hit form again in Rome since his struggles in La Liga. However, will Atletico give up on him?

Diego Costa Past Endeavours

Diego Costa found massive success with Chelsea in the Premier League in 2014/15, scoring 20 goals in 20 outings and ultimately winning the competition. In the later years in London, he added to his tally with a few impressive performances before returning to Madrid.

The Present

His time at Atletico Madrid as of recent has been underwhelming. Before his Chelsea move, he was on fire for Atleti, inciting Jose Mourinho to bring him to Stamford Bridge. His return has not been as fulfilling as the excitement foretold. So far he has played 13 games, scored two goals, and assisted two.

Options at Roma

Currently, the Rome outfit is spearheaded by Bosnian veteran Edin Dzeko. At 34-years-old, the target man is bound to slow down. On-loan from Atletico Madrid, Nikola Kalinic hasn’t made a big impact in the capital which means Roma will be looking for another man who could drive the attack forward.

Attacking options could well and easily be widened by someone of Costa’s approach to football. Aggression and power up top is needed when it comes to dealing with the physical nature of the Serie A’s defenders. Diego Costa’s value has fallen due to his age of 31-years-old and bad form in La Liga, but could still do a job for Roma. It could be an absolute steal for the Italian side if he is to find his old form once more.
