N’Golo Kante is set to miss the rest of the season if it restarts amid fears of returning back to training due to Coronavirus.

The French International has been given the all-clear to train at home and has full support from manager Frank Lampard and the Chelsea board.

Kante’s Return Uncertain

Kante was at Chelsea’s Cobham training base on Tuesday but has not trained since after expressing concerns.

The 29-year-old, though, did return on Thursday to undergo a second round of Coronavirus testing.

Chelsea do not know when the World Cup winner plans to return to training, which began this week in small groups with social distancing measures in place.

N’Golo Kante Not the Only Player Worried About Returning To Training

The Chelsea midfielder is not the only player that has expressed the fear of returning back to first-team training.

Troy Deeney has not returned to training for Watford as he is worried it will impact his young son. A further two Watford players are also in self-isolation after they came into close contact with people who had the virus.

Kante’s Season So Far

N’Golo Kante has played 23 games this season in all competitions for Chelsea with the midfielder being a vital part in midfield.

Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League table and may struggle without a key midfielder like Kante.

Project Restart

As Premier League teams slowly return to training it will see more tests done and more outcomes.

The first phase of testing has finished and now the Premier League are looking to move to the second phase.

Adrian Mariappa is one of six to have tested positive for the virus in the first phase and since then has isolated himself.

Burnley assistant manager Ian Woan has also tested positive.
