Bruno Fernandes Feels At Home In Manchester

Superstar At Sporting

Bruno Fernandes was quite the figure in Lisbon. Despite just a two-and-a-half-year stay at the club, he had made a big impact. He was very much the star man.

The Portuguese was a two-time Sporting player of the year, seven-time Primera Liga Player of the Month, two time Primera Liga Player of the Year and Team of the Year member.

Fernandes contributed to the club’s Taca de Portugal success in 2018/19, as well as two successful Taca de Liga campaigns.

The assured midfielder was part of Portugal’s inaugural UEFA Nations League winning squad.

Like he Never Left Sporting

Evidently, Fernandes felt a great degree of warmth from the Sporting faithful, deservedly so. He has now compared that support to the encouragement he has received from Manchester United fans since joining.

“They support me a lot and for me, that’s really important. I’m very thankful for the support the fans gave me from the beginning, it has been perfect for me.

“From the beginning, I feel at home, like I never left Sporting. It was really important for me start well with some good performances and we’ve had some amazing results,” Fernandes told talkSPORT.

Partnering Paul Pogba

Bruno Fernandes is looking forward to partnering teammate Paul Pogba, a World Cup winner with France.

“I think everyone is excited to see Paul Pogba play again after his long injury.

“For me, playing alongside him will be amazing, obviously, everyone wants to play with the best players and Paul is one of them.”

Fernandes isn’t only excited to partner Pogba and is focused on getting results. “But we have a lot of good players,” he said. “The most important thing is the results for Manchester United.”

Leading The Line

“I do always want the ball, that is true, and I will always be like that.” Fernandes has certainly displayed this for United.

Fernandes insisted he is just one of many leaders in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

“I think everyone has to be a leader in their own way. Everyone here is a leader, in everything you have different leaderships and I think I’m just another one. I try to help everyone and they try to help me.”
