Curtis Jones Agrees to Remain With Liverpool
Big Future Ahead of Him
Jones has a big future ahead of at Anfield. The highly-rated youngster continues to remain on the fringes of the first-team.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season with Liverpool. While most of his eight appearances for the first-team – six in total – Jones has looked an exciting prospect.
Jones has not looked out of place when he has featured in the first-team. Most of his appearances have come alongside his U23 team-mates; however, you could perhaps mistake for a first-team regular.
His stock rose emphatically at the beginning of this year after a superb curling effort sealed a 1-0 over rivals Everton in the FA Cup.
While his first-team appearances continue to remain restricted to predominantly cup competitions, Jones continues to impressive for Liverpool U23’s side. He has scored nine goals in 14 appearances, as the Reds finished fifth in the U23 league.
What Was Said
Speaking to the official Liverpool website, the 19-year-old said: “For me, as everyone knows, it’s massive.
“It’s my boyhood club and it’s the whole of my family’s club as well, so for me it’s huge.
“I think the environment and stuff is all positive and keeps me as positive as I can. Of course, we’re working with a great manager and around the best team in the world, so for me it was easy and [I’m] extremely proud.”
Excited by the prospect of the future that lies ahead of him, Jones said: “It’s a perfect environment. I’ve got great boys around that help me every day – Hendo, Millie, Lallana, Fabinho, the whole of the team is perfect for me to watch every day in training.
“But to be involved with them, you pick up so many things and the detail in what they do and they do everything perfect – their professionalism around the place, it’s perfect. So I’m picking up all that and taking it into my game and to me as a person. It’s paying off right.”
