After lifting the Champions League trophy last season and winning the Premier League this, Jordan Henderson and his Liverpool legacy are well and truly cemented in the Reds’ history books. The former Sunderland man is the first Liverpool Captain in 30 years to lift the title and has had endured an impressive individual season on top of that, resulting in many Player of The Year shouts.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, however, they are set to play the remainder of their games without the leadership of Henderson. The Skipper picked up the season-ending knee injury in a recent 3-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion

No Surgery – A Relief For Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp, as usual, took a positive standpoint out of a situation that could have been far worse, stating: “Hendo is in the best possible of all bad news. A knee injury but no surgery needed and he won’t play any more for this season. I am pretty positive he will start next season with us. Yesterday, when we got the news, it was a big relief. He’s a quick healer.”

If surgery was needed, then Henderson would have missed not only the remainder of this season but the start of next season too. With the title wrapped up, the injury comes at a suitable time for Liverpool. There is no need to take risks when the reward has already been won. An injury at this point in the season shouldn’t do any damage to Liverpool’s season or goals they want to achieve. Instead, it should act as an opportunity for others to step up.

Henderson Still the Man to Lift the Title For Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp also confirmed that, no matter what, Jordan Henderson will be the man to lift the Premier League trophy. The Liverpool manager stated: “He deserves to lift the trophy and he will lift the trophy.”

And, after almost a decade at the club full of highs and lows, not one person can dispute if Henderson deserves to finally lift the Premier League trophy.
